The Orma tribe are herders, whose cattle depend on the fertile lands near the Tana River. Handaraku village (above), is now where more than a thousand internally displaced Orma villagers seek refuge with relatives and friends after their villages were attacked. All men, and even some older children, arm themselves with spears and machetes. In the run up to Kenya's Match 4 elections, many worry that the recent ethnic clashes in Tana Delta area could be a warning of violence to come.
